Ive ran the waSHITa River several times in the past 2 or 3 years. I really like this run except that the water is stained brown. But theres a bunch of different ways to run this river other than having to run the 14 mile stretch from Dougherty to Gene Autry. Here is a list of put in's and pull outs. Dougherty Bridge; just drop in you cant miss it. Dolese Rock Quary on a sunday before sun up, just jump the gate and run accross the quary to the river. PULL OUTS: We pulled out once at the end of big canyon and towed are kayaks back up to the put in on the train tracks. WATCH OUT FOR TRAINS! You cant see them coming and they dont blow their whistles so if the tracks start making a harmonic whinning sound get off fast. Another pull out is at Hollenbeck road. The road winds really close to the river, its kinda a steep pull out tho. Gene Autry Bridge...ive paddle to gene autry once and i never did it again. Points of interest on river left there is a cave called stribling cave. You wont find it in the summer tho, wait for the leaves to fall. Whitewater is good and makes a nice trip.
