River Description

Class: IV- V.?

This one is roadside along Hwy 16 between Fayetteville and the New Dries put-in. The old version of the creek was featured in a number of Kayaking video's including Katie & BJ Johnson's 'Falling Down'.

On July 8, 2001 the area suffered a catastrophic flood that did about 1000 years of geologic damage in a day. The creek bed was scoured. Houses washed down the creek running the 30 foot waterfalls. Most of the lower stretch of the road was washed away.

As of fall 2003 boaters are starting to run parts of the creek again. There are lots of sharp rocks, and the streambed is in a constant state of change.
