left of island at Big FallsRiver DescriptionDo the full, listed, 1.4 mile run, or just park-and-play at Big Falls, which provides area boaters a play spot and nice sized drop. The river splits around a small island. River left is pretty much of a sheer drop (about 5-6'), while river right is a series of steps and slides which should provide more play possibilities. Used to visit there as a college student in the early 70's. Nice place to simply kick back and unwind. Locals bring their kids to swim in warmer times. I broke my little toe there while barefoot walking in the stream through rocky area. Walked up the hill to Sacred Heart Hospital to find that my broken toe was not castable. Only time I have ever had broken a bone. Beautiful area, will return in time....ajf in Beloit Edit
