River Description

Information from Greg and Sue Hanlon's Steep Creeks of New England, which has more info on this run. Text used with permission.

"Below Kinsman Falls lies a 20+ foot, unnamed vertical drop, which is considered a portage due to its narrow approach."
"This very unique run contains many shallow, steep slides and rapids filled with potential pin spots, making an inflatable kayak or 'ducky' the vessel of choice."

Directions: Park at The Basin parking lot and hike up the Basin-Cascade Trail. The trail crosses the river twice before the gradient begins to lessen. Put in above a double waterfall shortly after the trail crosses to river left.

Gauge

Gauge Description:

The gage referenced here is on a much larger stream and provides only an indication. If the lower slides on Cascade Brook look runnable, then the upper drops are usually okay.
