River DescriptionSurfing Hole![]() My Brother Dan and my son Brian 3-10-01 About 200' to 300' downstream from the bridge, a river wide ledge creates a surfing hole 75' wide with eddys on both sides. This hole is a lot like the head gates on the East Race, with 3 to 4 places to do 360's. There is room for at least three boats to surf at one time. This is a good place to get new people side surfing or a good place to go on a cool spring day when you have not been out all winter. The water is not too deep or fast below this hole so rescue is not difficult. When you're done, carry your boat up above the ledge and paddle back to the bridge. The put-in / take-out is on Etna Av. in Huntington. I have parked in the school drive on weekends and not had any problems. Click on Tiger Map Server (upper right of this page) for put-in / take-out location. My son and I surfing You can e-mail me if you need more information or just to let me know how you liked this hole. Brian trying out his new drytop StreamTeam Status: verified
