River Description

The upper stretch of Johnnies is a pretty little gorge.
Mostly flatwater, but the last mile has a few good class 3 drops.

This would be a good beginner run - except that it mostly runs in the middle of winter.

Gauge Description:

Description: A new gauge was painted on the SE, downstream corner of the bridge pyling at the Canyon Rim Road take-out.
"0'" is approximately 22" above the old 12" mark. Locals consider the 12" mark a avg good level. Most often run 10" to 16". Running the river at the new "0" gauge might be too much for most folk. 12" is considered the top of the lowest flat piece of concrete. The top flat is 22" above the other.
