Cornmill Road Near Mayo to Pacolet River

River Description

The creek is in Spartanburg Co. Off Hwy.221 near Talltales Fish Camp. Turn right off 221 go past where you turn to go to fish camp.Go about 1 mile around sharp turn , old mill on right.The slide drops about 20 ft. in about 50 ft.It's pretty big but has a big pool at the bottom.I'd say class III,maybe.Down stream is a .25 mile set of class II's before cornmill Rd.Then about 1 mile the river runs under Mayo Rd.Has a good take out there.The parts we ran were flowing sunday morning after .65 inches of rain.Everyone needs to check this run out,reminded me of the upper Green,just a little narrow in a few places.No dam release/rain only run.It's a least as good as the Tyger.IMHO

There is a surfing wave right under the cornmill Rd Brdg.
We surfed back and forth on this wave.With another inch or so of rain it would be a great park and play spot.We were really suprised to find this so close to home.
