River Description

A few quick words on Bash Bish: This is a very cool and intimate run tucked into a little valley in the Taconic Range where the New York, Massachussetts, and Connecticut state lines converge. The put-in is immediately downstream of the considerable Bash Bish Falls. There will likely be tourists taking pictures of the falls and they will definitely think you are of questionable mental health if you contemplate running the first two drops below the falls. While the rest of the run is mostly IV+ in nature, the first two drops are a big step up from the rest of the run and should be given close visual inspection. They reportedly have been altered by the heavy flooding in October '05 and may no longer be runnable (unless you're really good).

The rest of the run is short but sweet. It moves very quickly. Lots of action/reaction boating. Before you know it, it's over. Either hike back up for another run, or go for the Ted Devoe triple crown: Bash Bish, Hubbard Brook, and the seldom run Umpacheenee Falls.

I will try to get some pics and better logistical info up some time this spring. Enjoy.
