River DescriptionYeah, that's right. A 120+ ft/mile class TWO. Gives you an idea of how continuous it is, but it's a pretty cool little creek! Little is definitely the operative word with maybe 1/2 the width of the Black Moshannon, but it drops in a hurry. There's absolutely nothing on it that warrants a class III rating, or really even II+, but it's nonstop from the put-in (a strip mine access road about 0.3 mi above the SR 879 Bridge) to the Susquehanna. It's pretty much a boulder garden with a couple of ledges about 1/2 way down that add some excitement. There's even more than a couple surfing waves here and there. It's a perfect run for that class II-III boater who is wondering what the fuss is about this strange boating style known as "creeking".As of 3/04, there's no wood on the entire stretch except for some rhododendron hanging into the sides at some places. Very clear. There's also a road along the whole thing, so you can scout from your car if you want. There's nice parking both on the strip mine road put-in and at the take-out on a little side road that crosses the creek just before it dumps in the mighty Susquehanna. You could easilly shuttle people up all day long and just play on the little drops. It's a gem. StreamTeam Status: unverified
