Gauge Information
Lamson Run
Branchville to Shadduck Road III-IV
River DescriptionThis is a very small trib of Elk Creek that empties out in McKean, roughly one mile above the suggested put in for Upper Elk. It is a smaller, shorter version of Chautauqua Creek, NY. Lamson drops over 30 feet in a .3 mile near the end of the run. That is a rate of over 100 feet per mile! This section of the run also includes a very fun 6 to 8 foot waterfall! The creek is pastoral for the first mile and residential in the last mile. The valley is however, fairly wooded. There is a brand new gauge on nearby Walnut Creek. The gauge is so new that there is not enough information yet to report runnable levels. Since this creek is much smaller than Walnut, expect Walnut to still be rising or not far from it's peak for Lamson.

As you come around a small right hand bend, and a set of rapids you will come to the falls. It is pretty easy as long as you avoid the center where there is a nasty V shaped erosional feature. This falls alone makes the run worthwhile!
When you come up to the Shadduck Bridge the creek is divided into two tunnels. You can take either the right or left side as long as there isn't any wood. Be sure to scout to make sure when running the shuttle. If it is free of wood, the left side is more interesting.
