River Description

Put in at the ballfield just after the bridge in The Forks on the right.

Put in around 1 to 1:30 pm to time the run with the release from Harris Station which is done for the commercial rafters.

This is a fairly easy stretch that is great to introduce beginners to big water. There are several easy rapids with fairly good sized waves. This run varies widely with the amount of flow. Many of the rapids are covered at levels near 8000 CFS, I feel the best runs are at 5500 CFS.

The run concludes with a 1.5 mile flatwater paddle before you get to the boat launch in Caratunk, which is the takeout.
