Cucumber Run, pa

to the Casselman

Class IV

River Description

The first is called Cucumber. It is eluded to in the description to the lower Casselman, and is indeed runnable. Nothing exceeds class 4, but for that it is very technical. Lots of junky little drops with pinning as a real possiblity, but nothing that would do more than submerge a boat. The best part is right before the Casselman. There is a two part slot combo before entering a tunnel. This is the most significant rapid up to this point. Immediately thereafter is the tunnel, which has a funky bow-shaped hydraulic about midway through. Not munchy, but being dark in the tunnel it might come as a surprise to the unweary paddler. After the tunnel is about 8-10 feet of run out, a small eddy, and then about an eight foot drop into big waves on the Casselman. Really cool! This is the run eluded to in the lower Casselman description.
