7) Pont-Rouge – Donnaconna (The land of a thousand surfs.)Class III
6.2 Miles
Avg Gradient 27 fpm
River DescriptionThe Donnaconna section of the Jacques-Cartier is a wonderful class III river. It's known for having more surfing waves then just about any other river in North America. Some of the rapids have over 100 waves each, and most of them wide enough for many boats. Expect the run to take longer then the 6+ miles suggest. Most people take all day and play their hearts out, ending up the day exhausted.

The Suivi Hydro Gage (ID 050801) is located in Shannon, upstream of this section. Changes in gage readings will be delayed approximately half-a-day before being reflected on the river.
To calculate estimated flow in the Donnaconna section, multiply the Shannon Gage reading by one-and-two-thirds (ie, gage * 1.66).
Gage levels are reported in Cubic Meters Per Second; multiply by 35.3 to convert to CFS.
