Class I-II

Avg Gradient 10 fpm
Max Gradient 25 fpm

River Description

This long reach may be shortened substantially via a number of road crossings.
Reportedly, there are some technical boulder garden rapids and a few good playable waves (particularly near CR131/133).

I have no firsthand knowledge of this reach, but analysis of topo maps suggests the following:
From   To   Distance   Gradient   Description

County Route 4   County Route 14   5.0 mi   6 FPM   Mostly lower gradient through (what appears to be) a marshy area.

County Route 14   Hwy.73   5.8 mi   11 FPM   Gradient picks up a bit. River is narrow and winding, with one rapids after another. Just above the confluence of the West Branch (above CR 131) there is 1 mile at 23FPM, though the flow from the West Branch may be needed for good paddling at lower flows.

Hwy.73   Hwy.27   5.1 mi   13 FPM   Gradient continues good. There is 1 mile at 25FPM flanking Hwy 27 bridge.

Hwy.27   County Road 66   5.1 mi   9 FPM   Gradient slacks off.

County Route 66   County Route 52   4.2 mi   9 FPM   Prior gradient continues, flattening out towards the end.

Gauge Description:

There is reportedly a gauge at County Route 12.
Readings between 2.5' and 4.0' provide good paddling.
(May be possible higher and lower.)
