Gauge
Gauge Description:
JB Seay says:
"The gauge works like this: there are 5 vertical bars painted on the WV Rte. 7 bridge in Dellslow. To get a level, you just see how many of em are showing. The low end of it, some people run it when the water is around a set of drainpipes in the bridge structure below the last bar. But it's bony then.
"I know it's been done at 3 bars, and Colby Mackley or Jeff Snyder or someone has probably run it even higher than that. I'd have to defer to someone else on the 'Highest run' judgment.
"If you don't know it, and aren't with someone who does, you shouldn't be out there with more water than 4-1/2 or 5 bars showing. Deckers is really pushy at high water, and is probably the most cave-filled, sievy run in the area.
