Appalachian Whitewater (see below) lists a physical gage, visible from the Rte. 198 bridge above the Diana's Pool takeout, upstream of the bridge on river right against the rock wall. 1.75 is too low, 3.0 is medium, and 5.0 is a high-water level which buries the gage.
Local paddlers often make low water runs down to 1.0 on the boaters gauge. At this level the England Road put-in is too low and boaters must carry up from the take-out to Mousetrap.
