Gauge

Gauge Description:

Flows in this section of the river are released from Friant Dam. Typical releases are around 100 cfs in the winter and 200 cfs in the summer. Both flows are very low but enough to fill in the pools. Riffles and rapids will be very shallow and boats may run aground. In 2006 summer flows were around 300 cfs which is much nicer for boating. Future summertime flows may be closer to 400 cfs which will be better still. Very high flows up to 10,000 cfs can occur in the spring of wet years, when Millerton can not store all of the run off. The following links provide additional flow information from Friant Dam.
