River Description

This is basically a park-and-huck geology lesson. The only drop of note is the stairstepping, three-part rapid, "Tufa Falls." The first part is a trashy ledge with sharp, angular, upturned pinning rocks and wood. Be aware of the incredibly nasty calcium carbonate, "tufa" rock which is like mother nature's sandpaper and can make some truly sik undercuts - like the sieve cave below the first ledge of tufa falls. Look for fossils while you look for your line. The second and third parts of the big drop are much easier than the first, but a large undercut travertine mass looms to the left.

Put-in at an appropriate access above the Tufa Falls. This is accessed via Rt.731. Take-out at the Walker's Creek Rd. bridge (Rt. 602). An alternate put-in near McClung's Mill would add a few small waves if there is high water. Respect private property.
