River Description
This creek parallels Rt. 93 coming across the top of the mountain into Davis. You barely even notice Rt. 93 while you are on the creek. This stream is a wonderful run! It is one of the best scenic runs in the state of West Virginia. The scenery is absolutely spectacular and the creek alternates between fast current over a sandy bottom and Class 1-2 rapids over a rocky bottom.
Putin on a small tributary about 7 road miles from the Rt.93 bridge near Davis.
The creek begins very small and is often barely wide enough to turn a boat around. It meanders back through breathtaking scenery with occassional Class 1 rapids before flattening out with a sand bottom. About 2-3 miles into the run, the bottom changes back to rock.
You will go under a bridge with a culvert. Below here is a continuous stretch of bouldery Class 1-2 rapids that lasts for over a mile. The stream calms down as you swing next to Rt.93. There is a junky rapid underneath a bridge right below here with weird rocks/concrete sticking up. Below here, the stream settles back into a sand bottom and continues meandering through more incredible scenery.
Take out at the Rt. 93 bridge near Davis or continue to the Blackwater. The last stretch to the Blackwater is not nearly as nice as the rest of the run with lots of scars from civilization including a pipe that dumps in raw sewage. Beaver Creek empties into the Blackwater just above the bridge in Davis.
