AW Cheoah River Revival ~ April 8th, 2006 ~ Robbinsville, NC

Get your online invitation here
After 40 years of dam-induced dryness, the Cheoah River, located near Robinsville, N.C., flowed on Saturday, September 17, 2005. About 1,500 CFS of water surged down a stretch of the Cheoah, carrying hundreds of boaters who came from all over the Southeast to experience this historic run. 2006 will bring the first full season of releases to the Cheoah River with 18 releases spanning the spring and fall months.

The Cheoah River is soon to be a southeastern classic that no doubt your club will enjoy for the next forty years. American Whitewater’s work on the Cheoah started over five years ago, studying flows, attending negotiations, writing critical comments, this successful reliscensing was no small task. Now that the bulk of the work is over it’s time to celebrate.

American Whitewater is hosting a party on April 8th at Tapoco Lodge located on the banks of the Cheoah River and we need your club to attend.

Revival Fundraising Dinner

Someone once said that freedom doesn’t come cheap and that certainly is true for the Cheoah River. American Whitewater has invested over $25,000 into the negotiations on the Cheoah and is hoping to recoup some of the money with a fundraising dinner. American Whitewater is currently working on 75 projects across the country and this funding will help create the same success that we had on the Cheoah.

The focus of the fundraising dinner will be to recognize all the people who invested so much time and energy into the reliscensing. Southeastern boating legend Leland Davis will be the key note speaker, talking about his experience in exploring the creeks of the southeast to write his recent book “NC Rivers and Creeks”.

American Whitewater hopes your club will take part in this memorable evening by purchasing a table of 4, 6, 8, or 10 ($100 per seat). Tapoco Lodge’s dining facilities are limited to approximately 80 people so call today to reserve your tickets. To purchase your tickets email Ben VanCamp or call (828) 293-9791.

Revival After Party

American Whitewater understands that $100 for a dinner isn’t in everyone’s budget, but that doesn’t mean that we want to leave everyone else out of the celebration. After the fundraising dinner American Whitewater is throwing a good old fashion barn party at Tapoco Lodge. The evening will feature film premiers of Wave Sport’s new promotional film, YGP’s latest release Dynasty, and LVM’s issue number 18.

What would a good party be without some great music? AW had so much fun with Big City Sunrise at last year’s Gauley Festival we had to bring them back for another bash. Big City Sunrise has great energy and is music that just about anyone can get up and dance to. Check out the music at bigcitysunrise.com!
