Accident Description

Summary of AP news story:

On August 27, 2006 Jack Dornhoffer, 15, was floating the North Umpaqua River with his brother, Walter, 13. Both boys were paddling kayaks. Both boys ran ran Burkhart Rapids. Jack walked upstream to float the rapid, entered the water, and disappeared. Walter looked for his brother, then sought help in a nearby home. A woman on an inner tube saw the body, pulled it ashore, and began CPR. He was transported to Mercy Medical Center where he was pronounced dead.
