TINICUM — A woman from western New York state was killed Saturday while kayaking with family along the Delaware River, according to officials. The 50-year-old woman from North Tonawanda, whose name has not been released, was kayaking with family members along the Delaware River during a yearly outing. However, the high, fast moving muddy water prevented them from beaching for a break at Prahls Island in the Virginia Forest Recreation Area off the river on the Tinicum side. The woman’s kayak overturned and she became stuck. Family members rushed to get her out of the water and were able to flag down a motor boat that helped transport her downriver to Bucks County River Country while friends and family performed CPR, according to officials. She was pronounced dead at Doylestown Hospital, officials said.
