Phil Meyer, a paddler working for the Rainforest Outward Bound School in Costa Rica, sent word that there were two more commercial rafting deaths during the summer. On July 26th three rafts flipped while running the Penas Blancas River. The correct line in the rapid had apparently changed due to recent earthquakes, and water levels were high. All but one client swam the rapid successfully, but one man, Jerry Probst, 50, suffered a severe flow to the front of his head which may have left him helpless in the water. CW
