AW in Portland
American Whitewater's Board of Directors will be in Portland this spring for the organization's annual meeting. We are inviting our members and supporters to a series of events that will take place over the weekend.
White Salmon River Trip
Thursday April 26, 4 pm, BZ put-in on the White Salmon
We will lead a short discussion on current projects on the river including Condit Dam removal, acquisition of key parcels to provide public access, and recent designation of additional miles as Wild and Scenic. We will then run the river from BZ to Husum (a class III run). For those who are interested we can make a stop at Condit Dam after the run
Sandy River Trip
Friday April 27, 10am, Marmot Dam on the Sandy River
We will discuss the current status of this project scheduled for removal this summer. Depending
on flows and interest we will paddle the Sandy River Gorge or a section downstream.
Dinner and Fundraiser
Saturday April 28th, 6:30 pm, McMenamin's Kennedy School, Portland, OR
Join your local hosts Thomas O'Keefe, Jennie Goldberg, and Rich Bowers with American Whitewater for an evening of dinner, drinks, and celebration of the region's rivers. Dinner will be followed by a presentation by Alan Hamlet, University of Washington Climate Impacts Group, on Climate Change and Conservation Challenges for the Region's Rivers.
There is no admission for this event but a reservation is required (a few seats still remain). During the program attendees will be asked to consider a contribution of $100 or more to support American Whitewater's Stewardship work on Pacific Northwest Rivers.
