American Whitewater is pleased to announce that a free iPhone/iOS App is now available that shares realtime details on the over 5,500 whitewater runs in our National Whitewater Inventory. The new location-enabled app allows paddlers to learn about nearby rivers within a selected distance or state, and safely pick trips that meet their group’s skill level, flow preferences, and timeframe. It offers enhanced mapping and links paddlers to the rich crowd-sourced information and river-related news on the American Whitewater website.

This app was developed as a volunteer effort by Greg Lee, Rachel Jin, and Alex Kerney. All of us here at American Whitewater would like to thank this team of talented volunteers for their outstanding gift to our organization and the paddling community. Members of this team previously created a similar app for Android devices, which is also free to download.

American Whitewater plans to continue the development of the app to enable paddlers to contribute alerts, hazards, photos, gage readings and other information to our National Whitewater Inventory through the app. We are confident that the new apps and related investments in our website will enhance river safety and enjoyment for years to come. AW staff love using the apps and we think you will too, so give them a try!

Check out the iPhone app here, or the Android app here, or by searching for "American Whitewater" where ever you get your apps.

Enjoy, and if you like the apps, consider supporting American Whitewater
