Help Plan the New River Gorge's Future

The National Park Service is beginning the process of developing a new management plan for the New River Gorge.  New River paddlers are encouraged to participate in this process and share your concerns and interests regarding the management of the river and the gorge. 

The open houses will begin with a brief presentation by the Park Superintendent, then followed by a short description of the GMP/Implementation planning process. Meeting attendees may then visit a series of information stations and be encouraged to provide verbal and/or written comments. Mail-back comment cards will also be available.

Hinton Meeting:  1/24/06,  5:00-6:30 pm:  Memorial Building Auditorium, 97 Park Avenue, Hinton, West Virginia.  The Memorial Building is located in Hinton adjacent to the County Courthouse at the corner of Park Avenue and James Street.

Tamarack Meeting:  1/25/2006, 3:00-5:00 pm:   Tamarack Conference Center, One Tamarack Park,
 Beckley, West Virginia.  Tamarack Conference Center is located off Exit 45, I-77 WV Turnpike (follow signs).

Fayetteville Meeting:  1/26/2006, 7:00-9:00pm:  Lafayette Post 149 American Legion Hall, 205 West Maple Avenue, Fayetteville, West Virginia.  At the intersection of Route 19 and WV 16, take WV 16 into Fayetteville, turn right onto Maple Avenue. American Legion Hall is across the street from the library.
