Ledyard Canoe Club's Second Annual River Festival (NH)
Hanover, NH, March 4, 2010 Ledyard Canoe Club of Dartmouth College is hosting its
second annual river festival the weekend of April 16th-18th. The festival will take place in New
Hampshire's Upper Valley with competitions on the Wells River as well as the Connecticut and
Mascoma rivers. In addition to the 7th annual Wells River Rumble race, competitions will
include a kayak rodeo, a triathlon, and the longest consecutively held whitewater slalom race in
the country. There will be festival party on Saturday evening at the DOC House on Dartmouth
College's campus in Hanover NH. Everyone is invited to come and enjoy live music, a
kayaking movie premiere, food and beer, raffles, and prize giveaways.
The festival is open to any and all outdoor enthusiasts including members of the Dartmouth and
Upper Valley communities. The timing of the Ledyard River Festival enables boaters to take
advantage of spring runoff and prime water levels on New England rivers. Paddlers are expected
from all over the country as faraway as Alaska. For safety reasons some competitions require a
certain level of boating ability, but there are many events open to all skill levels and there
are great viewing areas for all whitewater competitions, which should be fun to watch.
Everyone is encouraged to participate!
Online registration is now available at www.dartmouth.edu/~lcc/riverfest/registration.html.
Camping will be available near Ledyard Canoe Club for those traveling from afar.
