American Whitewater is pleased to recognize Todd Hoffman as our Volunteer of the Month for January, 2011.  River stewardship issues are really heating up right now in the Northern Rockies and Todd has been a big help, especially in Northern Idaho.  There are new dam proposals, Wild and Scenic planning and protection issues, and a proposal to turn the Lochsa River corridor into an industrial transportation corridor.  With all this going on it is great to have the support of a knowledgeable and motivated local volunteer like Todd.

Todd also chips in on one of the most important and accessible volunteer opportunities we offer - our online National River Database.  When there is a new proposal to develop or protect a river, this database is the first place AW staff, partner organizations, and many federal agencies go to learn about the river and its many values.  Adding new reaches, better reach descriptions, and especially high-resolution photos to our database is a an incredibly powerful way to volunteer for American Whitewater - and to save the rivers you enjoy.

Thanks Todd, and Congratulations!

In recognition of his efforts, Todd will be receiving a custom OuterCore Long-Sleeve Shirt from Kokatat
