Action Alert - Support Fall Boating on the Upper Colorado River!

Grand County, Colorado - American Whitewater has been working tirelessly to protect healthy streamflows and recreational boating on the Upper Colorado River.  As part of this effort, AW is working with Grand County to support the proposed Gore Canyon Whitewater Park at the Pumphouse Recreation Site near the bottom of Gore Canyon.   We urgently need you to write a quick letter of support for this project—specifically supporting fall boating at the proposed whitewater park.

There have been questions raised in the proceedings over the proposed whitewater park, about whether commercial outfitters or the general paddling public will likely use the whitewater park from Labor Day weekend to October 15. As paddlers in the region, we know that when streamflows in other rivers of Colorado have dropped below boatable levels, the Upper Colorado still provides good boating opportunities. At this time, American Whitewater and Grand County need your help in demonstrating public support for boating in the Upper Colorado into the fall.

Please take a minute to email to the Project Coordinator, using this link CarolineBradford@wildblue.net  We have already drafted a letter for you, but please take a moment to elaborate briefly on why you support this project. The support letter needs to include the sentence in bold about fall boating, your name, mailing address/email or phone.   Thanks again for your speedy support.

This is a quick, but critically important action you can take to promote and protect the Fall boating season on the Colorado River.

The deadline for letters is Wednesday, March 7, so please take a moment to do this at your earliest convenience.  Your support letter is vitally important in our effort to protecting healthy flows and whitewater recreation on the Colorado River.

Thank you!
