American Whitewater is proud to announce our July 2013 Volunteer of the Month: David Hill

David has represented paddlers interests and driven the City of Cuyahoga Falls effort to decommission two dams located in the Upper Gorge of the Cuyahoga River (OH). Removing these two dams will continue the restoration efforts of the Cuyahoga River. These dams are located such that they create a significant safety hazard to paddlers wishing to enjoy the Class III-IV whitewater that exists in the gorge. The new recreational opportunities created by removing these dams provides economical benefits to the city and region by offering unique whitewater paddling in an urbanized setting.

Decommissioning of the two dams on the Cuyahoga River will lead to a restored river with new economic opportunities and job creation.

In recognition of David's hard work he will be receiving a Kokatat WoolCore shirt!
Join AW and support river stewardship nationwide!
