In follow up to an article published in the Mar/Apr 2014 American Whitewater Journal (Page 10), the Federal Energy Regulatory Commission (FERC) has finally issued the License for the Upper American River Project (UARP) #2101. This is great news for paddlers in Central California who have been working and waiting for this moment for over a decade.

This license restores ecological, pulse and recreational streamflows for the High Sierra Class IV South Fork Silver Creek below Ice House Dam Run a.k.a. the Ice House Run and the "GEM" of the UARP - the Class IV-V Slab Creek Run. In addition to these streamflows we will soon have access to information from the various streamflow and reservoir level gages that will be placed at various locations within the project.

Depending on water year type, whitewater recreational flows will commence in Spring of 2015. Specifics for Whitewater Recreational Streamflow can be found under License Condition 4 on Page 91 of the License Order.

Stay tuned for some great whitewater opportunities next Spring!
