White Salmon (WA) River Meeting Nov 15

The Mid-Columbia Fisheries Enhancement Group is developing a Fish Habitat Conservation Approach focused on the long-term management of salmon and steelhead habitat along the lower six miles of the White Salmon River.

The Enhancement Group has worked closely with American Whitewater, Yakama Nation, and resource agencies to develop a collective vision for the White Salmon River that realizes the full benefits of Condit Dam removal for fish and the community. It is important for the boating community to be a part of this discussion.

The paddling community is encouraged to participate in a community discussion on a draft vision, as well as goals and ideas for fish habitat conservation on the lands of the lower White Salmon River formerly affected by Condit Dam. These lands along the former Northwestern Reservoir and the Lower Gorge are currently owned by PacifiCorp. We believe the long-term conservation of these lands is in the interest of fish and boaters.

As part of the ongoing community discussion, the Enhancement Group will host a public meeting that will build off of input collected from previous activities. Public input and feedback from this and previous meetings will be used to develop an approach document.
