American Whitewater is pleased to announce Daniel Patrinellis as our December 2014 Volunteer of the Month!

For the past several years, Dan has been a passionate advocate for rivers in the Pacific Northwest. He has assisted American Whitewater on several projects, including protecting Ernie's Gorge from hydropower development and promoting whitewater boating opportunities on the Chelan Gorge.

Through videos, photos, and social media, Dan has helped us amplify the American Whitewater message and promote our work. This fall he served as the American Whitewater representative for the Chelan Gorge releases and produced a great video that has not only been enjoyed by the whitewater community, but also has been used to educate agency staff and hydropower operators on our sport and the places we enjoy. Dan understands that images and visually-compelling stories are an important tool for advocacy.

Dan has also helped promote a sense of community and organized the SeaGnar 2014 FilmFest, a homegrown paddling film festival in Seattle that was hosted by Cascade Canoe and Kayak at their Redmond Paddlesports Shop. Learn more here! It was a great event that brought the community together and we even raised a few bucks for American Whitewater.

In recognition of Dan's contributions this fall and his ongoing commitment to American Whitewater's mission and our projects in the Pacific Northwest, we are pleased to recognize him as our volunteer of the month. In thanks for his efforts, Dan will receive a Kokatat WoolCore Shirt
