New Mexico's Interstate Stream Commission has taken one more step down the road of killing one of the region's most iconic rivers, approving the costly and environmentally destructive proposed Gila River Diversion. But it's not too late to stop the project.

Now is the time to let Interior Secretary Sally Jewell know that the diversion makes no sense for taxpayers, paddlers, and the communities that surround the Gila, who depend on the recreation economy.

Our colleagues at the Gila Conservation Coalition have a powerful petition and short film now running at the social impact site Change.org for all of us to sign.

Let's all pull together to support the Gila, and the future of paddling in New Mexico.
