This month, American Whitewater recognizes Lauren Nance as our Volunteer of the Month. Lauren has been working closely with our Colorado Stewardship Team to protect the interest of paddlers on the Upper Colorado River.

Lauren has recently taken over as Conservation Director at Colorado Whitewater, one of AW's oldest affilates. In March, Lauren volunteered her time to helping represent paddlers in the Upper Colorado River Wild and Scenic Management Group, and filling a vacant seat reserved for CW. Lauren is working closely with AW staff, commercial outfitters, and water providers to ensure that healthy flows and good boating opportunities are protected on the Colorado River, as the new W&S Management Alternative is implemeneted in 2016.

Since 2008, American Whitewater has served as the lead paddling interest in the Upper Colorado planning efforts and this year, volunteers like Lauren are helping to ensure that the protections we fought for over the past 8 years are put in place.

In recognition of Lauren's efforts, she will receive a customĀ Kokatat X-Jacket, thanks to Kokatat's support of AW's Volunteer of the Month award.Thank You Lauren!
