Gore Fest 2020 Coming to Your Home on September 1
Gore Fest has the decades-long tradition of hosting one of Colorado's premiere downriver races. In the past five years it has expanded to include multiple events, bringing together kayakers, rafters, stand-up paddle boarders, families, and river enthusiasts from all over the region to celebrate a cornerstone river in the Colorado whitewater community. Unfortunately, due to concerns surrounding public safety because of the COVID-19 pandemic, we have restructured the event to an online format. This decision was not an easy one to make, but we are excited for you to join the first-ever virtual Gore Fest! We have speakers, films, photo competitions, and prize drawings all to create an amazing event for everyone. The event will take place at 7 pm MST on Tuesday, September 1st. Attendance is free and to register follow this link.
Your AW memberships and support are central to our stewardship work and our in person events provide an important drive in these memberships. We are hoping to meet our goal of 100 memberships by the event. Please use this link to join or renew.
There will be three different drawings with fantastic prizes as a part of the festival. A participant drawing will be for all event attendees and will include some awesome AW shwag. We will have two membership drawings for participants who join or renew using the Gore Fest Membership Form. For standard, family and affiliate club memberships, prizes include a Hala paddle board, a $250 Yakima gift card, a Pyranha kayak, and a Kokatat Rogue drytop. New or renewing Ender Club or higher members will be entered to win a fully outfitted oar frame raft courtesy of our friends at Down River Equipment and Rocky Mountain Rafts (a near $6,000 value)! For more details on these drawings, please visit the Gore Fest webpage.
We will have amazing panelists joining us to speak about their whitewater and racing experiences and participate in a live Q+A session with event attendees. We are also doing the first-ever Gore Canyon photo contest. We have created this contest as a way to help celebrate Gore Canyon and keep the competitive spirit of the festival alive. There are three different photo categories, including photos of Gore Canyon, best groover photo, and best photo representation of 2020. The winner of each category will win a $400 Kokatat gift card! For more information about the photo contests and rules, please visit the American Whitewater Gore Fest webpage.
We are excited for you to join us at Gore Fest 2020 and to celebrate such an incredible river and community. This festival is an opportunity to reflect upon the important stewardship work AW does on the Upper Colorado River. We are heavily invested in the health, longevity, and accessibility of this river and are able to do this work because of your generous support. We look forward to seeing you at the event and celebrating the beautiful and mighty Gore Canyon. Please join us in acknowledging that Gore Canyon sits within Native Ute lands and waters.
