During the high waters of Spring 2003, there has been a noticeable increase in reported confrontations between boaters and property owners in Virginia. Please remember to be respectful and courteous to property owners; do not trespass; and avoid confrontation in order to preserve access in the future.

More information about AW's research on Virginia's navigability laws is available.

If you have had an encounter with a landowner, or experienced access difficulties in Virginia, we would like to hear from you in order to document the problem. Please send a description of the incident to access@amwhitewater.org. Be sure to include the date and location of the incident you are reporting.
