Abstract

As founder of the Washington Kayak Club, Wolf Bauer published the first navigational map of the state for paddlers. This is a important historical document that identifies rivers enjoyed for recreation prior to 1965 along with difficulty ratings using the rating scheme Wolf developed that was adopted by American Whitewater as the International Whitewater Scale of Difficulty (i.e. the I-V rating system in wide use today).
