A flow study was done on May 22, 2010. Participants Charlie Center, Thomas Moore, Macy Burnham and Darin McQuoid. Below freezing temperatures, fresh snow, and an excessive amount of wood early in the run caused for an aborted run after the team covered half a mile of river in three hours. Charlie Center and Alex Wolfgram returned a few weeks later in warm weather, and put on about two miles below French Meadows Reservoir, and avoided most of the wood. They reported a good run with a handful of stand out drops and a few portages, saying it was still a rather long day.
Flows for this section are rare, although it does have water in the spring in larger than normal snowpack years.
A 'good' rapid if you put on too soon on this section.
