River Description

Prather Creek only flows after some hugh rains mostly in the spring or summer.  The creek flows over the spillway and plunges off three large waterfalls and ledges.  There are lines on all of the drops but this is serious whitewater don't try it unless your into serious drops.  The takeout is the same hiking trail you used to access the creek.

Chaw Falls

As of 2026 the top drop has cleaned up and there is a good line. Make sure to have good safety set. I catch a must make eddy, then seal launch into the middle of the main drop. Bottom one is almost always clean, i boof into a must make eddie on river right, then do the shallow ferry over to the trail to get out. Would love to see somebody do it all in a sequence!

I grew up very close to this waterfall and my parents would take us to see the powerful drops after large rains. I first kayaked it in 2009, naming it CHAW FALLS and have been lucky enough to catch it running a handful of times since (including a high water run in 2013). I was never able to link the top ledge to the main big drop. If I ran the first ledge, I would take out and slide back in right above the big drop to run the slide/boof on river left. The last ledge is a treat! Very erosive area and when there is a lot of water the drops can erode and change right before your eyes!! Has anyone linked it all together? Its named Chaw Falls! Thanks, Eric
