River Description

A beautiful remote river valley with lots of exposed rocks and wildlife. The banks are mostly private homes and some conservation easements, but most of the islands are public land and are legal to camp on. Mostly Class I riffles, but there were a couple Class II rapids (2 ft. ledges). You will likely get a little wet in any open top boat (perhaps with the exception of a canoe). Overall, an excellent float trip! Also, there is no public boat access at the Largent Bridge. You will need to get permission from the Stoney Creek Store to launch there. Not sure what they would say (since I didn't launch or disembark at the Largent Bridge), but it's likely that they charge $5 per vehicle (pretty standard practice on the Cacapon where there is no boat ramp).

2.8 on the Cacapon Gauge made for a great flow! Only boney in one spot. Beautiful remote rock formations and scenery and wildlife the whole way. Would definitely return!
