The main Class II+ rapids are above and below the confluence with the Rappahannock.

Ed Evangelidi testifies:
This classic trip is a tiring run as the lower section is fairly flat and susceptible to headwind. There is an outfitter at the T.O. [Clore Brothers (540) 786-7749] that can help with shuttles or other river needs. Below the confluence you cross both civil war river crossings and the east coast gold mining belt.

Gage Descriptions

Also look at the Remington and Fredericksburg gauges as running this section of the Rapidan requires running part of the Rappahannock as well.

Attention Virginia Boaters!

Jason Robertson

During the high waters of Spring 2003, there has been a noticeable increase in reported confrontations between boaters and property owners in Virginia. Please remember to be respectful and courteous to property owners; do not trespass; and avoid confrontation in order to preserve access in the future.
