Paul Raffaeli testified:
A group of us paddled most of the run mentioned in your online description.
The section we ran I briefly described below.. we put in perhaps 1/2 to 1 mile above the 'Put -In' slide described and pictured here http://www.ptone.com/Kayak/UNFK/index.html
Certainly from where we put-in this is not a class5+ run
At the flow we ran this (1.4 on NF Gage) I would rate it mostly class 4++ / 5-

This was the first time down for all of us in this group and here is a very brief summary.
(The NF Gage was 1.4)
On Sunday we decided to do the Upper North Fork of the Kaweah... a 5 mile carry in (thanks salamander kayak-pak) and 5 or so miles down a lot of big but manageable rapids, it was a great adventure because of the big hike-in from the Yucca Creek trailhead (I ran across a very healthy looking Black Bear when I was hiking ahead by myself), the big drops and slides, and the fact that none of us knew the run or even exactly how long it was. It was a great but long 5 miles with lots of scounting, some portaging, some minor rescues, some mank, but mostly all very good fun...we finally got to the take-out 1/2 hour before dark..pretty exahausted, packed up and coffee'd home the almost 4hr drive.
Our crew for the weekend was BillTut, BrianK, Nate, Brendan, and I.
