Three falls in a county park (plus one more a half-mile downstream) can provide some park-and-play entertainment. At high flows, the second falls will become very 'keepy'.
USGS lists a (one time) sampling site (2.1 miles (crow flies distance) upstream of our recommended PnP) with drainage area of 53.3 square miles. (The coordinates appear out-of-sync with the mapping layers, putting the listed coordinates a long ways from the Thunder, and nearer Handsaw Creek.)
Correlation to the listed gauge (Peshtigo) is not assured, but should provide a fair indicator of levels for this reach.
The best method will be visual inspection. If the falls look like runnable fun, go for it!
Permits are not required for this reach.
Ignore the 'shuttle directions' below. You will walk down from the parking lot, and walk back to your car.

If someone gets hurt on a river, or you read about a whitewater-related injury, please report it to
American Whitewater. Don't worry about multiple submissions from other witnesses, as our safety
editors will turn multiple witness reports into a single unified accident report.
Log into the American Whitewater website and you can contribute to river descriptions,
flow and access tips, and maps associated with runs you've done. You can even add new
runs to the inventory!
