Location: (north limits of) City of Waukesha.
Shuttle Length: 1.4 miles. (See details in "Directions" Tab.)
Character: Mostly rural-feel float stream, with a few riffles and sharp turns to maneuver.
Put-in is approximately 832' elevation.
Take-out is approximately 815' elevation.
Thus total elevation change is approximately 17'.General Overview
A minor stream, with some small waves and potentially technical maneuvering to negotiate. In years past, this has been used by the local paddling club as a 'first moving water' experience for students (new boaters). A (generally flatwater) race is held each spring, starting further upstream in Pewaukee.
This may be paired with (or either may be 'substituted for' the other) the listed run on the Fox River in Waukesha, which has it's put-in about 2.25 miles downstream of the listed take-out for this reach.
USGS lists a sampling site at Busse Road (somewhat midway down this section) showing drainage area as 37.8 square miles. This is 0.3 times the active gauge on the Fox in Waukesha.
*This is a 'virtual' gauge, based upon the Pewaukee River being roughly 3/10 the drainage area of the Fox River in Waukesha. Correlations are not assured. Minimum as currently set is largely a guess, and could use refinement from first-hand observations. Anyone who paddles this stream is encouraged to go to the "Comments" tab and hit the "Add a Comment" button to provide their data.
Permits are not required for this reach.
