Curiously, Google routes around a long (18.6 mile) loop to get from take-out to put-in, even though (when I grab the coordinates and enter them into Google maps myself) it will use the nearly river-side highway (1.9 miles) when asked to route from put-in to take-out! Does anyone have information explaining this phenomenon? Is is not possible to head the opposite direction on this highway?
If someone gets hurt on a river, or you read about a whitewater-related injury, please report it to
American Whitewater. Don't worry about multiple submissions from other witnesses, as our safety
editors will turn multiple witness reports into a single unified accident report.
Log into the American Whitewater website and you can contribute to river descriptions,
flow and access tips, and maps associated with runs you've done. You can even add new
runs to the inventory!
