River Description

The put-in for this short but steep section of the Reedy is on McKelvey Rd at Huff Creek near the city of Fork Shoals. Boaters will float down the ten yards or less of Huff creek to a small ledge at the Reedy River confluence. From that point it is less than a mile to Cedar Shoals Dam. Running the dam would be stupid, but probably is survivable. Immediately below the dam is a short series of slides, a creek like channel, and waterfalls followed by some small waves. The best road access is here at Cedar Shoals but it is of questionable legality. There really are no other exciting rapids on the run so paddling five miles downstream doesn't seem all that worthwhile. Cedar Shoals is a nice set of good rapids near Greenville, Easley, and Clemson.

On January 23, 2009, the Greenville County Recreation District issued a press release stating that it will use funds from the Colonial Pipeline settlement to create its first blue trail.  It is envisioned that an 87 acre passive park will be created at Cedar Falls on the Reedy River.  17.5 acres will be purchased upstream at New Harrison Bridge Rd to create a 7.8 mile paddling trail down to the park.  This trip will be mostly flatwater, with a few small ledges.  Whitewater boaters may enjoy park and play at the falls.

the slides below the dam are fun with plenty of water be wary of the right side it has a bad sieve.
At the bottom of the last slide there is a undercut rock that can be interesting at high water. But
for the most part this is the only rapids here, I carry in at the takeout and run the slides a few
times, the wave at the bottom of the slides are pretty fun but demanding at high water.
