River Description

To reach the put-in, drive to Piedra River Road on the West side of Pagosa Springs at the top of the hill on highway 160. Turn North. Follow this road until you reach the river. You can put in right at the bridge or a campground just upstream.

The takeout for this run is just below the next bridge that you can drive a car over, but you might as well run the next stretch, especially since this takeout is not always open due to snow.

The run is mostly class II, with the exception of two class IV+ rapids near the end. Its very pretty.</ p>
