River Description

Soldier creek runs through the middle of Fort Dodge cutting over several areas of rock structure creating small drops. The section is only runnable during high water events. Paddlers should exercise serious caution as there are multiple strainer hazards, possible blockages at the North 7th Street and North 3rd Street road underpasses and portions of the section are bordered by private property. This section should be viewed as an expert only run with significant river hazards. Armstrong Park or Snell Crawford Park serves as the put-in sites with the take out being at the confluence with the Des Moines river.
