River Description

This short in distance journey requires a big commitment in time energy and skill level.   it involves steep class 5+ boulder boating in a canyon that is often walled in.    It also involves a steep downhill hike in to the put in and a steeper and longer uphill hike to get back up to roads from the take out.

Gage Descriptions

There was a USGS gauge on the NF San Joaquin below Iron C, from 1921 to 1969.   Daily records from that period can be found at this NWIS link:  NF San Joaquin below Iron C
Since there is no gauge on this river now, one must look at other gauges in the region and try to find  an approximate correlation.    Such nearby gauges are:

NF Kings at Meadowbrook

NF Kings below Dinkey Creek - CDEC - NKD

Kings at Roger's Crossing - Check Dreamflows.com , and/or  Pine Flat hourly

SF Merced at Wawona - CDEC gage site

Merced at Happy Isles  -  USGS - Merced at Pahono Bridge

Tuolumne above Hetch Hetchy - USGS gauge above Hetch Hetchy
